This kit was designed to do two things; first to take as much weight off as possible because the street battery is much larger than a race bike really needs; second to move some of that weight forward and lower on the bike to help with handling so it achieves mass centralization. This takes approximately seven pounds off the bike because of the smaller battery. If you have questions as to the crashability of this set up, yes it is in the crash zone, but in over the forty-five years we've been selling battery boxes we have yet to hear anybody complain about it being destroyed in a crash which is probably due to it being tucked up under the frame so it is protected.
